If the US government refuses to Fund the world anti-doping Agency, athletes from this country may not be allowed to participate in the Olympic games. This was told by the head of WADA Witold Banka, quoted by Reuters.

In June of this year, it became known that the US state administration for drug control policy made a proposal to withdraw funding from WADA until there are reforms. But the US share of the organization’s funding is the largest – 2.7 million dollars a year.

“If the United States stops funding WADA athletes from this country can expect serious problems, – said Banka. – Governments of other countries ask us to consider amendments to the compliance standard of national anti-doping agencies, in which non-payment of contributions will lead to the fact that the anti-doping organization of this country will be declared non-compliant with THE WADA code. This will lead to the fact that the athletes of this country may have problems with participating in major sports competitions.”The US is not happy with this possible turn of events. USADA chief Travis Tygart said such threats are shameful.
